Barentz acquires amino acid supplier Globe Ingredients


Barentz has acquired a majority stake in Globe Ingredients, a fast growing international commodities trader and distributor based in the Netherlands, Serbia, China and Colombia. Globe Ingredients main activity is in vitamins and amino acids, mainly for the animal feed industry.

With the acquisition, Barentz aims to further strengthen its position as a supplier of animal nutrition while expanding the business to new geographic regions.

Acquisition is a perfect fit

“The opportunity to purchase a controlling stake in Globe Ingredients fits perfectly into Barentz’s 2025 business plan, in which we aim to acquire strategic companies that also extend our geographic reach,” said Hidde van der Wal, CEO of Barentz International. “Together we are becoming stronger, expanding our ingredient portfolios, where in particular Globe Ingredients’ extensive network of high quality animal nutrition suppliers is of great value to Barentz. The current directors remain stakeholders and managers of the company.

Globe Ingredients provides a full range of high quality ingredients and additives for animal feed, human food and pharmaceuticals, adhering to the international quality systems GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and FAMI-QS, developed for ingredients specialty foods. Most additives and ingredients, such as vitamins, amino acids, proteins and minerals, from suppliers all over the world, are stored and distributed from the Netherlands. Globe Ingredients’ extensive pharmaceutical portfolio targets both human and animal use and all products are subject to regular and strict quality controls.

Globe Ingredients has 16 employees in 4 offices, located on 3 different continents. The company will continue to be managed by its own dedicated and successful management team, comprising directors Martijn Krijgsman and Frànk van Eeden. “Over the past few years Globe Ingredients has grown considerably and through this partnership with Barentz we hope to be able to expand that growth, leveraging our expertise at the same time,” said Krijgsman. “Globe Ingredients will benefit from Barentz’s distribution network and expertise while being able to expand its business worldwide in the sale and distribution of food additives,” added van Eeden.
